Jesse Hernandez combines traditional indigenous styles and themes with an urban street sensibility. His work utilizes bold line work, sharp colors, and dynamic imagery across many different mediums, most widely known for his custom painted toys, illustration, and canvas work. His style also draws upon his animation background. Hernandez currently works full time for The Filipino Channel as Art Director/Co-Creator of the cartoon series “The Nutshack” , and creates freelance artwork through his company, Immortal Studios.

Hydro74 is a Orlando based designer, otherwise known as Joshua M. Smith., and in his own words:
The soul purpose of my career is to push the boundries in doing what I feel is relevant to the market as well as extract various elements and trends to be able to offer them up in my own personal work. But let’s be honest. I do what I love because I love it. Not because I have to do it, nor am forced to do it, but rather passionate about doing what I do. I firmly believe in having set style tones, yet a sense of diversity to make any various project unique to the demands that are set forth.

Product Preview: Otto Bjornik 3inch Mayari Dunny.

Goddess of the night. Moon rising. Lunar queen.

A beautiful deity, Mayari is both character and myth. Wearing a crown and royal ruff, this 3-inch lunar queen comes to life with a fine line style that mimics artist Otto Bjornik’s intricate pen and ink drawings.

Otto Björnik is as much storyteller as artist, mixing childhood memories and fairy tales within his intricately illustrated work. An architect by training, he works mostly in the fine and delicate world of pen and ink, though also forays into painting and customizing, creating beautifully detailed figures with complex personalities.

Mayari Black is rising March 27 exclusively at select retailers. Mayari Red rises March 27th exclusively at Kidrobot stores and kidrobot.com.

Each Mayari Dunny retails for $14.99.

The Art of Otto Björnik

He is more than an illustrator and more than a customizer, Otto Björnik is a magician of storytelling. He creates elaborate narratives of long forgotten childhood memories and that of fairy tales. He has a knack for capturing elegance, beauty, and grace with every drop of ink while keeping the delicacy of the subject in tact. His work is beautiful, intricate, and completely mesmerizing.

An architect by training, Otto creates works in pen and ink that are filled with intricate detail and influenced by stringent rules of design. The elements he chooses often hold symbolic meaning, and  takes care to piece them together like a jigsaw puzzle to tell an overall story. After a bout with Carpal Tunnel Syndrome(due to overly detailed pen and ink work), he turned to customizing toys. It was his way of continuing his art without overworking the wrist.

A fan favorite in the custom toy world, Otto’s work is highly sough after and can be seen all over the world especially with Kidrobot. As he says “I chose Kidrobot toys because it’s the closest to the little characters that I put in my drawings. And I fell in love with the Munny and the Dunny platforms”. This is apparent with the customs below.

Fun Facts about Futurama!

With all the fun hype around the release of Futurama series 2, we thought it would be good to bring some astounding facts about this ground breaking show. So, while you sit back like Hedonism Bot and enjoy the quest for Hyper Chicken, read some fun facts you may not have known.

Did you know?

1. Bender’s apartment number translates in ASCII to $. He does love the money doesn’t he? Also Leela’s apartment number 1-I, get it?

2. Speaking of Bender, did you know he is named after that joke telling hooligan in the Breakfast Club?

3.  The idea of Futurama came from the song “Robot Blues” by The Incredible String Band. Double whammy if you have never heard of this band either.

4. That red jacket has always looked familiar on Fry. Fry’s attire is based of James Dean’s from “Rebel without a Cause”.

5.  Hermes as seen in Series 2 was originally supposed to be called Dexter.

6. Al Gore has voiced himself on the show, but his daughter Kristen has also written several episodes.

7.  The lovable Hypnotoad has his own episode, but you might not remember that when you wake up.

8. Fans were so diehard for the show, they figured out the alien language, and thus it had to be changed.

9. Nibbler and the Transformer Megatron are related. They are both voiced by actor Frank Welker.

10. The full ratio list of Futurama Series 1 is:

Fry: 2/16
Bender: 2/16
Mom: 2/16
Nibbler: 2/16
Leela: 2/16
Zapp: 2/16
Lrr: 5/96
Zoidberg: 1/16
Morbo: 5/64
Sal: 1/32
Slurms: 1/64
Robot Devil: 1/96

Enjoy

Have you got your Futurama Series 2 yet because I still need an Elzar!
