If you’re tired of the UI your manufacturer saddled your Android device with, or you just want more control over how your homescreen looks and operates, it’s time to try a new launcher. There are tons of great ones, but launchers that offer a good combination of features, speed, and customization are harder to find. Last week we asked you which Android launchers you thought were the best. Then we took a look at the five best Android launchers and put them to a vote. Now we’re back to highlight the overall winner.
Go Launcher EX took the top spot, bringing home over 37% of the overall vote. The winner was clear, but second place on down was much more hotly contested. With 16.44% of the vote, ADW Launcher EX (which happened to be the launcher in the title image of Sunday’s post, by the way) took second place. Falling into third by a mere 11 votes (and 16.3% of the vote) was the ICS-only Apex Launcher. In fourth place with close to 16% of the overall vote was the ICS-only Nova Launcher. Finally, bringing up the rear in fifth was the mostly abandoned but still popular and functional Launcher Pro, bringing home over 14% of the votes cast.
The Hive Five is based on reader nominations. As with most Hive Five posts, if your favorite was left out, it’s not because we hate it—it’s because it didn’t get the nominations required in the call for contenders post to make the top five. We understand it’s a bit of a popularity contest, but if you have a favorite, we want to hear about it. Have a suggestion for the Hive Five? Send us an email at email@example.com!
